Rita M. Weinzierl | 89

June 8, 1933 - February 20, 2023

Rita M. Weinzierl, 89, of 115 Locust Road, St. Marys, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois following a lengthy illness.

She was born June 8, 1933, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Alfred and Mary Donovan Ehrensberger.  Rita was a lifelong resident of St. Marys and was employed at Pure Carbon before she dedicated herself to raising her loving children.

On September 29, 1962, in the Queen of the World Church, Rita married the late Harold F. Weinzierl, who preceded her in death on January 31, 1987.

Rita is survived by her two daughters: Ositha “Zede” Weinzierl and Debby Miller (Ray), both of St. Marys; her son, Andy Weinzierl (Debra) of St. Marys; four grandchildren: Garret Weinzierl, Rose Weinzierl, Alex Hinton (Jessica), and Daniel Hinton; one great-grandchild, Ella; two sisters: Marlene Maholtz of Kersey and Joan Eckl (Earl) of Daguscahonda.

Along with her parents and husband, Rita was preceded in death by a sister, Lori Sorg; and by two brothers: Richard and Paul Ehrensberger.

Rita was a devout Catholic and a member of Queen of the World Church.  She cherished her time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 10:30 AM, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.
