Mary Lou Brody Reuscher, 90, formerly of 575 Charles Street, St. Marys, PA passed away at Pinecrest Manor on September 28, 2023.
Born June 12, 1933, in Brookville, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Woods) Brody. Mary Lou moved to St. Marys when she was six and attended the Catholic Grade School, Central Catholic High School and graduated from Mercy School of Nursing.
On September 7, 1957, Mary Lou and Richard Reuscher (Dick) were united in matrimony by Father Kenneth Kelly, O.S.B. in the Sacred Heart Church. Several weeks later they moved to El Paso, Texas. After Dick completed his active duty at Fort Bliss, the couple returned to St. Marys where they settled in and started a family.
Mary Lou was dedicated to her faith, family and community. Her nursing skills were put to good use raising her eight children. She was equally comfortable distributing band aids and popsicles to attend to their many injuries and upsets. Mary Lou was happiest surrounded by her family, playing games (usually beating her children at cards) and going overboard celebrating Christmas. Always active in the community and the Catholic Church, Mary Lou served on numerous committees and boards. She was a founding member of the local food bank, served on St. Marys Parish Council and The Bishop’s Advisory Board of Catholic Charities. Mary Lou was also a member of the St. Marys Nurses Study Club, and a lifelong participant in a longitudinal study for nursing. She and her husband also served on a board for the Institute for Church Life at the University of Notre Dame.
Mary Lou is survived by her children: David and Mary (Meyer) Reuscher, Andrew and Donna (Dippold) Reuscher, Daniel Reuscher, Julie Reuscher, Molly Reuscher, Susan (Reuscher) and Douglas Wittman, Nancy (Reuscher) and Christopher Godino. She is also survived by grandchildren: Rachel (Reuscher) and Matthew Foust, Cassandra (Reuscher) and Adam Gardner, Alyssa Reuscher, Brittany (Reuscher) and Travis Wendel, Benjamin Reuscher, Garrett Reuscher, Kylee (Proudfit) and Connor Shirey, Laira Reuscher, Ryan Wittman, Edward, Samual and Alexander Godino. There are also great grandchildren: Lukas Haugdahl and Brady Foust, Peyton and Rory Wendel, Gatsby and Lennon Gardner and Rowan Shirey. Also surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Judy Brody.
In addition to her parents Mary Lou was preceded in death by her husband Richard, her son Kris, a grandson Michael Proudfit and her nephew and godson, Aaron Brody.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Lou Reuscher will be celebrated at Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 12:00PM with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.

Mary Lou was my Mom’s life-long friend and my Godmother. I treasure our trips to PA to visit the Reuscher family.❤️
Rest in peace Mary Lou.
Mary Lou was a wonderful friend and I mostly remember the week we spent at Andrew Kaul Hospital on the the maternity floor as roommates in June of 1964. She and Dick were very special people. My prayers and thoughts are with everyone.
