Mary Lee Gabor | 84

September 4, 1936 - April 7, 2021

Mary Lee Gabor, 84, of 920 Plymouth Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Elk Haven Nursing Home, after a lengthy illness.

She was born September 4, 1936, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Anthony and Amanda Schatz Pfeufer.  Mary Lee was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1954.  She was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring after 35 years of service.

On November 15, 1958, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Mary Lee married Raymond M. Gabor, who preceded her in death on July 7, 2003.

She is survived by two sisters: Ann Hooper and her husband Thomas of St. Marys and Helen Schremp of Sheffield Lake, OH; her brother, Anthony Pfeufer and his wife Janice of St. Marys; her brother-in-law, Alfred Leithner of Daguscahonda; and by cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Lee was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Leithner.

Mary Lee was a member of the St.  Mary’s Catholic Church, the Quarter Century Club of the Stackpole Carbon Company, and the Golden Grads.  She enjoyed crafts and crocheting, especially making “scrubbies”, as well as gardening and flowers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 10:30 AM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday morning, from 9:00 until 10:00 AM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 325 Church Street, St. Marys, PA  15857.

  1. Condolences to my fellow classmate Helen and the rest of the family. I first met Mary Lee while working at Stackpole during the summers. Most recently I would talk to her when I was visiting the nursing facility. I will miss seeing her as you will.

  2. Sorry to hear that my godmother passed away. She was such a great lady, always joyful and willing to help others. I will miss her very much.
