Mary A. Gerg, 87, of 1878 Bucktail Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2021, at her residence, after a lengthy illness.
She was born February 15, 1934, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Ralph and Bertha Resch DeGroat. Mary was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School. She was a former employee of Eastern Sintered Alloys.
On November 12, 1955, in the St. Mary’s Church, Mary married Richard B. Gerg, who preceded her in death on February 17, 2010.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally Walter of Medina, OH; four sons: David Gerg (Yvonne Ravenwood) of Bloomfield, NM; Anthony “Tony” Gerg (Cindy) of St. Marys; Tim Gerg (Glenda) of St. Marys; and Dan Gerg (Rhonda) of Kane; five grandchildren: Marie, Elaine, John, Erica, and Desiree; seven great-grandchildren; and by her sister, Rosie Emmett (Donald) of St. Marys.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Baumgratz; two brothers: George and Richard DeGroat; and by her son-in-law, Marvin Walter.
Mary was a member of the Queen of the World Church. She loved playing Bingo, cards, going to camp, and family gatherings.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Penn Highlands Community Nurses, 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857.

I would like say I’m very sorry for your loss and I send my condolences. I am sorry I can’t make it to the funeral. We will be out of town at Billy’s football game.
