Martha M. Tucker, 92, of 824 Washington Street, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at her residence, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born August 24, 1929, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Alois and Mary Gleixner Rupprecht. Martha was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1948. She worked as a laboratory secretary for many years at Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital.
On June 16, 1956, in the St. Mary’s Church, Martha married James F. Tucker, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1981.
She is survived by her daughters: Zita Greenawalt and her husband Robert “Joe” of St. Marys, Rose Sample and her husband Mark of Freeport, PA, and Ann Hoffman and her husband Robert of St. Marys; her son, David Tucker of St. Marys; nine grandchildren: Amanda, J. J., Katie, Lauren, Angela, Kayla, Alyssa, Ashley, and Zoe; eight great-grandchildren: Lily M., Cooper, Natalie, Nora, Dominic, Evalee, Monce, and Lily S.; and by two brothers: Jerome “Whitey” Rupprecht and his wife Jane and James Rupprecht and his wife Shirley, both of St. Marys.
In addition to her husband and parents, Martha was preceded in death by two sisters: Monica “Sis” Dornan and Grace Rupprecht; and by three brothers: Robert, Herman, and Thomas Rupprecht.
Martha was a member of the St. Mary’s Church, as well as the Rosary Altar Society and St. Anne’s Society. She loved playing cards, solving crossword and Sudoku puzzles, playing Bingo and Candy Crush, feeding birds, and using her tablet to connect with family and friends on Facebook. She enjoyed lottery tickets, rip tournaments, and playing the slot machines at the casino. But above all, Martha loved spending time with her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Monday, October 4, 2021, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, October 3, 2021, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.
