Margaret M. “Margie” Evers, 85, formerly of 109 Houston Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021.
She was born August 19, 1936 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Edward and Madaline Hassenetter Donahue. She was a lifelong resident of St. Marys and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1954. She was employed at Pennbank-National City for nineteen years, retiring in 1993.
On April 18, 1959, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Dale L. “Tiny” Evers, who preceded her in death on June 24, 2002.
Margaret is survived by five children: Paul Evers of St. Marys, Amy Lessmann and her husband Hans of Pittsburgh, Carl Evers and his wife Lori of St. Marys, Joyce Bauer and her husband Aaron of St. Marys, and John Evers and his wife Jill of St. Marys; eleven grandchildren: Sarah Evers, Adam Evers, Nicole Lessmann, Jessica Lessmann, Karl Lessmann, Brian Evers, Gage Evers, Jennifer Bauer, Jessica Bauer, Lauren Faidley, and Emily Evers; two great-grandchildren: Brayden Evers and Karsen Faidley; a brother, James Donahue and his wife Lou Ann of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, Thomas Wilson of St. Marys; and by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her sister, Anne Wilson and her brother, Raymond Donahue in infancy.
Margaret was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. She was a volunteer for the Sacred Heart Social Committee, the parish bereavement luncheons, and the Sacred Heart Church. She was involved with RCIA. Margaret was a devout Catholic who looked forward to making frequent visits to church. Margaret enjoyed going on walks with her sister and family. She cherished time spent with her family and always put her family ahead of herself.
There will be no visitation.
A private Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret M. Evers will be held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials, if desired, may be made to the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857.
