M. Phyllis Daly, 92, formerly of Forest Road, St. Marys, passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.

She was born January 24, 1932, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Alfred and Frances Meyer Gleixner.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1949 and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  After graduating from Central Catholic, Phyllis continued her education at Seton Hill College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics.

On April 24, 1954, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Phyllis married the late Eugene F. Daly, who preceded her in death on July 23, 2008.

Phyllis is survived by three daughters: Deborah Weis (Jude) of St. Marys, Patricia Snelick (Richard) of Weedville, and Kathleen Daly-Drapcho (Chris) of State College; three sons: Hugh Daly (Darlene) of St. Marys, Timothy Daly (Vicki) of Port Charlotte, FL, and Matthew Daly (Jasmin) of Santa Rosa, CA; a son-in-law, Craig Feldbauer (Lori) of St. Marys; five grandchildren: Molly Weis, Maggie Selzer, Abby Zampogna (Chris), Katie Simons (Darren), Lindsey Hetrick (Corey); three step-grandchildren: Richard Snelick, Jr. (Juliana), Marissa Leslie, and Wade Bille; four great-grandchildren: Callen and Roman Zampogna and Ella and Mia Snelick; a brother Wayne Glexiner (Carol) of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Beth Feldbauer; two sisters, Nancy Nissel and Patricia Wickett; and two brothers, Eugene Gleixner and Willis Gleixner.

Phyllis was a strong matriarch who excelled as a homemaker and head of the family.  Despite facing numerous health challenges throughout her life, Phyllis displayed remarkable tenacity, always pushing forward, instilling theses same values in her children.  She cherished phone chats with friends, celebrating the memory of her late husband, visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and sharing meals with her large family, especially around the holidays.

  1. To all of Phyllis’s family, I am so sorry to hear of your mom’s passing. I remember going to your house many times with Patty during my high school years. (I also remember Phyllis and Evelyn, my mom, “grounding” us a few times!!) I have many fond memories of being there with Mary Beth, Debbie and Hughie. Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry that I cannot attend Phyllis’s funeral this morning, but I will thinking and praying for all of you.

  3. Dear Patty,
I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Your devotion, thoughtfulness, and seeing all her needs were met, I’m sure was her greatest blessing through her illness. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. God bless.

  5. I have known Phyllis since I met Kathleen in 3rd grade. I have many great memories of Phyllis. I remember the fun we had in the 4H classes she taught, and the times we all spent at “Grampy’s pool” swimming and having cook-outs. I know she is with Gene, Mary Beth, and all of her loved ones. You all have my love and prayers at this difficult time.
