Jane McDermit Hoare, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Elk Haven Nursing Home.
Jane was born in Cresson, PA, on May 5, 1938 to the late James and Margaret Yahner McDermit. In 1950 her family moved to Knoxville, TN where she graduated from Knoxville Catholic High School, Class of 1956. She then went to St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Knoxville, earning her R.N. Degree in 1959. Her family moved back to Cresson, PA where she met and married Robert Hoare in 1960. They were blessed to share 59 ½ years of marriage together.
Jane is survived by two daughters: Nena Marie Herzing and her husband Adam of St. Marys and Kelly Marie Martin of St. Marys; two sons: Robert Anthony Hoare and his wife Gail of Chambersburg and Dwight David Hoare and his wife Marcie of St Marys; nine grandchildren: Matthew, Mike, and Kate Hoare, Kyle, Tyler, Alex, and Reilly Herzing, and Maggie and Nick Martin.
Along with her husband and parents, Jane was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Maria Hoare in 1965; three brothers: Carl, Bill, and Jim McDermit; and a son-in-law, Allen Martin. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Jane had worked as an R.N. in both Ridgway and St. Marys Hospitals and was a substitute school nurse. She was also the President of the Elk Regional Auxiliary for ten years and a board member of the Elk Regional Hospital System. She enjoyed their camp at East Branch Lake, cooking, reading, and spending time with her beloved family.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in the Sacred Heart Church on Monday, October 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, October 16, 2023 from 9:30AM until 10:30AM.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to Elk County Humane Society, 1029 E. Eschbach Road, St. Marys, PA 15857.

So sorry for the family to lose such a beautiful mother. She always had a smile on her face and I enjoyed being around her. God bless all of you and know that your mother is in heaven.

I know that Jane is at peace, no pain and up in heaven with Bob, Leo, Joe and Frank. I lost a best friend, as you have lost a wonderful Mother, but know that she is at peace.
