Louis A. Gerber, 85, of 126 Gerber Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Louis was born May 27, 1936, in St. Marys, son of the late William and Vinnie Wingard Gerber. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Public High School, Class of 1956. He was a retired employee of the Keystone Carbon Company.
On July 25, 1959, in the Sacred Heart Church, Louis married the late Joan Miller, who preceded him in death on October 16, 2020.
Louis is survived by his daughter, Laura Swanson and her husband, Mike of Kersey; two sons: William Gerber and his wife Yvonne of St. Marys and Stephen Gerber and his wife Patti of Kersey; seven grandchildren: Allison Pistner, Courteney Pistner, Rachael Wicks, Kyle Gerber, Cole Gerber, Shawn Meyer, and Tracy Uhl; eight great-grandchildren; and by his sister-in-law, Lorraine Gerber of St. Marys.
In addition to his wife and parents, Louis was preceded in death by his sister, Bertha Baughman; and by his brother, Peter Gerber. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Louis was a member of the Queen of the World Church. He was a former member of the St. Boniface Church choir as well as the Boone Mountain Singers. Louis enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his yard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Monday, August 2, 2021, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the St. Boniface Church Gathering Space on Monday morning, from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2835 East Carson Street, Second Floor, Suite 200, Pittsburgh, PA 15203.

There will be a lot more music in Heaven when Louie gets there. He loved his music and dancing. I worked with Louie at Keystone; he was always helpful and smiling. God rest his soul.

So very sorry to hear of Louie’s passing. I was a former co-worker of his and we just had a nice visit down memory lane recently. I will always remember his smile and laugh.
