Kathryn A. “Kay” Distler, 90, of 335 Maple Street, St. Marys, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at her residence.
She was born May 1, 1935, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Stephen and Catherine Ashworth Rupprecht. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1953. She continued her studies at St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Erie and was employed at Andrew Kaul Memorial Hospital in the nursery for a number of years.
On January 5, 1957, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Kathryn married the late Paul G. Distler, who preceded her in death on April 6, 2002.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Barbara O’Dell (Dennis) of St. Marys; two sons: Steve Distler (Mary “Darlene”) of St. Marys and Douglas Distler (Tina) of Kersey; five grandchildren: Amanda Sago, Danielle Grieneisen (Matt), Nicole Cosper (Rob), Eric O’Dell (Erica), and Kara Mulvany (Douglas); 10 great-grandchildren: Anthony and Alex Sago, Brayden and Laynee Cosper, Jannah and Lennon O’Dell, and David, Michael, Kamryn, and Stacey Mulvany; a bonus great-grandson, Kallen Lewis; a sister, Roberta Ryan of Springhill, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Kathryn was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Cauley.
She was a member of Queen of the World Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and word search puzzles. She was most proud of the family that she and her husband had and cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Queen of the World Church on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 10:00AM with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
The family will greet family and friends from 9:00AM until the time of service at Queen of the World Church.
