John W. “Jack” Bauer, 90, of 130 Dove Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, Monday, November 25, 2024 at his residence.
He was born December 15, 1933, in St. Marys, son of the late Frank and Eleanor Nissel Bauer. He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1952, and spent his working career at Stackpole Carbon for over forty years.
On July 25, 1959, in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Jack married Lois Hacherl, who survives. They were blessed to share sixty-five years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, Jack is survived by two daughters: Carla Schneider (Dan) of St. Marys and Pamela Keeley (Don) of Emmaus, PA; his son, Craig Bauer (Janet) of Murrysville, PA; seven grandchildren: Nathan Bauer (Sarah), Kevin Bauer (Hannah), Jason Bauer (Caitlin), Carson Bauer, Kyle Schneider (Megan), Nicole Hansen (Bryan), and Zachary Keeley; four great-grandchildren: Jackson, Melina, Adelaine, and Blake; one brother, George Bauer of St. Marys; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters: Lorraine Wolfel, Dorothy Heigel, and Grace Richards; and three brothers: Harold Bauer, Clarence “Lefty” Bauer, and Floyd Bauer.
Jack was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a proud veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed softball and golf but was most proud of the family that he and Lois loved so much.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, December 2, 2024 at 12:00PM with Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., celebrating. Full military honors will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.
A visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, December 1, 2024 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail, 168 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857.

Dear Carla and Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences on the loss of your dad. I’m sure you have lots of fond and special memories of him. Hold them close to your heart and he will always be with you. You will be in our thoughts and prayers during this time.
Warm regards,
Carla and Mike Cannon
Jack had the smoothest swing of any left handed batter that I can recall (at any level). The only thing sweeter was his disposition.
Prayers and blessed memories to the family.
