Hannah Rose Pistner, age 9, of 376 Flower Valley Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a cerebellum brain bleed on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at UPMC Children’s Hospital, surrounded by her family.
She was born June 3, 2014, in St. Marys, daughter of Anthony and Sara Caskey Pistner of St. Marys. Hannah was a fourth grade student at South St. Marys Elementary School, where she had an incredible group of friends whom she loved, and they loved her in return. Hannah not only enjoyed school because of her friends, but also because of her amazing teachers.
In addition to her loving parents, Hannah is survived by her sister, Haley, and her brother, Lucas; her maternal grandparents, Mike and Irene (Weisner) Caskey of St. Marys; paternal grandparents, Steve and Tina (Rigard) Pistner of Kersey; paternal great-grandparents, Joe and Jean Rigard; aunts and uncles: Mike and Jamie Caskey, Angie (Caskey) and Troy Ehrensberger, and Danny Caskey, all of St. Marys, and Allen and Jessica (Simchick) Pistner, of Hurricane, WV; and Great Uncle Dave Caskey of St. Marys. She is also survived by her cousins, Jay, Lydia, Jack, Josh, and Lily Ehrensberger, Kennedy, Karli, Maleya, Jensyn, and Sawyer Caskey, Ryan and Abigail Pistner, Elle Slye, and numerous friends.
Hannah was preceded in death by her aunt, Emily Caskey in infancy; great-grandparents David and Iris Caskey, Jr., Eugene and Theresa Weisner; Harold and Martha Pistner.
Hannah loved life, and it was obvious. She was forever laughing and smiling. When she wasn’t busy spreading her happiness, she cared for and rode horses with her sister Haley and cousin Lily. She spent as much time as she could with Lucas and Haley tending to and caring for their chickens. Hannah could tell you their forty plus chickens by name. She loved playing American Girl dolls with Haley and Lily as well as creating art work and crafts with Haley. We are blessed to have several of her beautiful paintings. Lucas, Haley, and Hannah were the best of friends and thick as thieves, lovingly referring to each other as “Punk”. There was nothing the three of them didn’t enjoy doing together. Hannah’s spirit is as pure as you will find, and her hugs and kisses will forever be missed. Hannah was a source of light and energy. She was full of love for all that had the chance to know her and love her. She had a quick wit and fantastic sense of humor. Her Grandpa Mike lovingly called her “his little Monkey”. Monkey will forever live on in the hearts of those who will forever miss her. Even through death Hannah continues to spread kindness, love, and hope with her ultimate gift of organ donation.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Hannah will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 10:30 AM with the Rev. Thomas Curry, OSB, Pastor, celebrating and Rev. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, concelebrating. The Mass will be streamed on the St. Mary’s Church YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/@saintmarysparish1411 The family requests that colors are worn, Hannah loved pink and blue.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at Elk County Catholic High School from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made payable to the Elk County Community Foundation for the Hannah Pistner Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 934, St. Marys, PA 15857.
Dear Anthony, Sara and Family. I was so sorry to hear of your loss. You are in my prayers and in my community’s prayers. May you feel God’s comforting presence in this time of sorrow. Sister Elizabeth Oettel, OSB
My beautiful memory is at Hannah’s Grandmother Tina’s surprise birthday party. Here we were having snacks, drinks, & visiting when Hannah takes me by the hand and says “can I read u a story?” I said, “sure”. She took me to the sofa and Haley came over and she read her story book. Now, after all the question and answer time. Hannah looks at me and says, “you want to see the chickens?” I was all in! It was a memory forever etched in my very soul. The joy, the innocence, the laughter was all hard to contain.
I know Hannah you are in The Almighty’s arms. I pray for the family that the Peace of God in the name of Jesus fills your Souls with his comfort.

Officer Pistner, we will never forget how you treated Nate, with nothing but respect. He really appreciated that, and so did we. He is doing well now. You made a difference for him! You are a wonderful Police Officer, and we can see where Hannah got her beautiful personality! You all will remain in our prayers!
