Frederick J. “Fred” Mildrew, 80, formerly of St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly after a short battle with cancer at his residence at 957 Susquehanna TRL, Watsontown, PA 17777.
Fred was born June 19, 1944, in St. Marys, son of the late Frederick A. and Dorothy Faye (Reed) Mildrew. He was a lifelong resident of the area until he and his wife moved to be closer to family. He was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1962, and worked in sales for Stackpole Carbon and Keystone Carbon. Following his employment at Keystone, Fred worked for Burkes Ace, where he retired in 2017.
On May 3, 1969, at Queen of the World Church, Fred married the love of his life, Constance “Connie” Krug, who survives. They were blessed to share fifty-five years of marriage.
In addition to his loving wife, Fred is survived by three daughters: Michelle Poore (Louis) of Townsend, GA, Kim Gerber (Dave) of Fairview, PA, and Dr. Lori Mildrew (Dr. Tristan Wilhelm) of Lewisburg, PA; six grandchildren: Taylor and Nicholas Poore, Katie and Kristie Gerber, and Tanner and Camden Wilhelm; a brother, Bruce Mildrew (Nancy) of St. Marys; a sister-in-law, Jean Welton of St. Marys; a brother-in-law, Steve Krug (Helen) of St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews.
During his time in St. Marys, Fred was a committed and active member to his community. He was a member and president of the School Board at Elk County Christian High School as well the secretary and treasurer of Benzinger Township Camp Owners Association. He had a passion for running and coached Jr. High Track and Field at ECCHS. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Lewisburg. Fred was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and just being outdoors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Queen of the World Church at 10:00am on Thursday, June 27, 2024. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 8:15-9:40am.
