Frances A. DeWald | 78

October 20, 1946 - April 29, 2025

Frances A. DeWald, 78, of 191 Lynch Road, St. Marys, passed away surrounded by her family Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at her residence, after a lengthy illness.

She was born October 20, 1946, in St. Marys, daughter of the late James Fox, who passed away in 2002, and Freda (Silvis) Fox, who passed away in 2012. Fran was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School and had been an employee of Stackpole Carbon Company and BiLo Foods.

On March 20, 1984 in Johnsonburg, Fran married James DeWald, who survives. They were blessed to share 41 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, Jim, Fran is survived by four daughters: Shirley Pangallo (Rick) of Kersey, Angela Walker (Mark Sr.) of St. Marys, Rose Fields of St. Marys, and Michele Hutchins (Tom) of St. Marys; eight grandchildren: Sheena Stewart (Callie), Dain Fields, Marissa Pangallo (Jake Kneidel), Shawna Walker (Jake Geer), Sherai Hutchins (Brandon Phillips), Tawni Hutchins, Kenya Hutchins, and Mark Walker, Jr.; three great-grandchildren: Brandon Burfield, Taylon Kneidel, and Mila Kneidel; and by her nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Fran was preceded in death by her grandson, Dallan Pangallo on February 24, 2016; her great-grandson, Colton Dal Kneidel on February 15, 2019; and by her sister, Rose Rigard on November 28, 2018. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Fran lived for her family and was the glue that held them together. She will be deeply missed.

Funeral services for Fran will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
