Edward H. Zambanini, 90, of 114 Fairview Road, Kersey, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a brief illness.
He was born May 7, 1930 in Toby, PA, son of the late Senatore and Edith Bussato Zambanini. Ed was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Fox Township High School, Class of 1949, as well as the Williamsport Community College. He was a former machinist for the Stackpole Carbon Company and later retired from Miller Machine Shop.
On September 27, 1958, in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, Ed married Veronica M. “Vera” Gapinski, who preceded him in death on November 3, 2015.
Ed is survived by a daughter, Barbara Scacchitti (Domenic) of Kersey; one son, Joseph E. Zambanini (Cheryl) of Delaware, OH; four grandchildren: Julia Scacchitti, Maria Scacchitti, Marla Scacchitti, and Staci Hall (Tim); and by three great-grandchildren: Christopher Johnson, Katelynn Hall, and Matthew Hall. Ed is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Gapinski of Johnsonburg; and by his brother, Arthur Zambanini of Ridgway.
Ed was a member of the St. Boniface Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War and was a member of the Fox Township American Legion. Ed was a former member of the Singing Dutchmen and was a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight for many years. He was an active member of the Fox Township Senior Center, and would make dozens upon dozens of Italian Pizzelles for the Senior Center to sell. Ed was also an avid wine maker and in his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting.
There will be no public visitation.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Boniface Church on Tuesday, December 22, 2020, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
