Doris Lenox, 87, of 115 Benzinger Road, St. Marys passed away peacefully at her home on December 26, 2023, with her family by her side.
She was born on November 27, 1936 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Thomas and Mary Glatt Williamson. She was a lifelong resident of the area, attended St. Marys Parochial Schools, and managed Hour Glass Cleaners for 36 years.
On September 29, 1956 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, she married the late Robert D. Lenox, who preceded her in death on May 15, 2002.
Doris is survived by one daughter: Mary Lenox and her husband, Jim Ullman of St. Marys; seven grandchildren: Brad and his wife Erica, Jesse, Bob, Sarahanne, Jamie, Brandy, and Marissa; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom were close to her heart.
Besides her parents and husband, Doris was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Benson; two sisters: Jeanette Williamson in infancy and Mary Jane Palmer; and four brothers: Harold, Raymond, Richard, and Gene Williamson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Doris was a devout Catholic and a member of the Queen of the World Church. She enjoyed puzzles and country music but she put her faith and family above everything else. During her life, Doris was an avid supporter of EWTN and did what she could to spread the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Doris will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 10:00AM with Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to Elk County Catholic School System, 600 Maurus Street, St. Marys, PA 15857.
Sorry for your loss. Doris was a dear friend to Cookie and I always enjoyed talking to her at the dry cleaners. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
