David M. Eckert, 66, of 335 Benzinger Road, St. Marys, passed away following a brief illness Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Highland View Healthcare.
He was born March 31, 1959, in St. Marys, son of the late Alphonse and Rita Ehrensberger Eckert. David was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class, where he was also employed.
David is survived by his sisters: Dora Yanak (LeRoy), Darla Eckert, Danita Moate, and Kay Vollmer (Steve), all of St. Marys; brothers: Daniel Eckert, Dennis Eckert, Donald Eckert (Donna) of St. Marys, and Doug Eckert (Atsuko Yamazaki) of Dublin, OH; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and his cat, Pepsi.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by three sisters: Diane Kane (Albert), Denise Warner (Fred), and Donna “Weezie” Eckert; two nephews: Allen Kane and James Eckert; and one great-nephew, Gabriel Harrington.
He was a member of the Ridgway Eagles Club and the Fox Township American Legion, Post 511. He enjoyed playing Bingo, attending gun bashes, and found true enjoyment going to camp.
There will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to attend the committal services for David at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 12:15PM.
Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, 4401 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224.
