David E. Garner | 77

February 11, 1948 - February 12, 2025

David E. Garner, 77, of 154 Terrace Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Hershey Medical Center with his family by his side.

He was born February 11, 1948 in St. Marys, son of the late Lawrence and Evelyn Daniels Garner.  He was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Elk County Christian High School, and a former employee of Sylvania, where he was a mechanic and took great pride in his work.

He is survived by his daughter, Melissa Garner of Chambersburg and his son David Garner of St. Marys.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he adored: Dylan Garner of Hummelstown, Jordyn Yohe, Bella Weber, and Gia Weber, all of Shippensburg and great-grandchildren: Mila and Harlow Menchu and Monroe and Lennon Yohe.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Garner.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

David was a loving, caring, and amazing father and grandfather.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, playing poker, chopping firewood, and spending time with his family and friends.  He will forever be missed, loved, and always remembered.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Sacred Heart Church at 10:00AM on Friday, February 21, 2025 with Rev. Thomas Curry, O.S.B., celebrating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Memorial donations, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity of one’s choosing.

  2. Dave had the greatest attitude and one of the hardest working men I have ever met. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed through the Mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
