Carol R. Ginther | 91

June 11, 1930 - November 28, 2021

Carol R. Ginther, 91, of 77 Carolwood Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, November 28, 2021, at her residence, after a brief illness.

She was born June 11, 1930, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Raymond and Madeline Schaut Smith. Carol was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1947. She was also a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania as well as Clarion University, earning her Master’s Degree, and was a retired reading specialist teacher at the St. Marys Public Schools.

On June 11, 1952, in the Sacred Heart Church, Carol married Robert Ginther, Jr., who survives.

She is also survived by six daughters: Sue Mraz of Slippery Rock; Yvonne Remz (Leigh) of Dunkirk, MD; Lana Largey (Hank) of Wylie, TX; Vicki Glover (Rick) of St. Marys; Amy Seaburn (Lee) of Allentown; and Lynne Shala (Steve) of Port Matilda; three sons: Robert Ginther III of DuBois; Raymond Ginther (Jeannie) of McKinney, TX; and Karl Ginther (Diane) of Collegeville, PA; 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and by three sisters: Madeline “Sally” McDonough of King of Prussia; Janet Wuest of State College; and Emilie Sundie (Dennis) of Scottsdale, AZ.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Smith.

Carol was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a sorority sister at Indiana University. She enjoyed reading and traveling, and visited almost every state in the United States.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, December 3, 2021, from 5:00 until 7:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Marys Public Library, 127 Center Street, St. Marys, PA 15857, or to a favorite charity.
