On September 29, 1962, in St. Leo’s Church, he married Germaine Mucci, who survives. Together they shared 59 years of marriage.

Along with his wife, Carl is survived by three sons: Carl J. Dietz (Connie) of Menomonee Falls, WI, Donald A. Dietz (Vicki) of Brockway, and Daniel R. Dietz (Amy) of State College; six grandchildren: Christopher Dietz, Chelsea Day (Jesse), Corey Dietz, Alyssa Dietz, Cody Dietz, and Lindsey Dietz; four great-grandchildren; two sisters: Paula Calabrese (Tom) of Erie and Linda Wilson (John) of Shelvey Summit; and one brother, Gary Dietz (Joyce) of St. Marys; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Carl was preceded in death by a son in infancy, Thomas Edward Dietz.

He was a member of the Queen of the World Church. His first passion that started in 1967 was flying and spending countless hours at the St. Marys Airport. He loved flying a Cessna Skyhawk with his father and brother. His second passion was playing guitar and singing with his brother and their friends. He enjoyed many activities including hunting, fishing, boating, camping, snowmobiling, and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed repairing and building things including his first airplane and home. Carl was always willing to lend a helping hand. He especially appreciated spending time when the whole family was together.
