Agnes A. Schade, 86, a resident of Pinecrest Manor, and formerly of 553 School Street, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Pinecrest Manor, after a lengthy illness.

She was born September 11, 1934, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Joseph and Coletta Hoffman Samick. Aggie was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1952. She was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring after more than 40 years of service.

On October 15, 1955, in the St. Mary’s Church, Aggie married Lloyd Laughlin, who preceded her in death in 1991. On July 26, 2002, in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Paul Schade, who survives.

Also surviving are her three daughters: Diane Shuttleworth (Tom), Lorraine “Lori” Scutella (John), and Melissa Laughlin, all of St. Marys; four grandsons: Jeremy Bauer, Blaze Bauer, Brandon Scutella, and Daniel Scutella; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Teresia “Tessie” Murphy (Bill) of Drexel Hill, PA and Veronica “Roni” Marshall (Bill) of St. Marys; and by her brother, Francis “Sam” Samick (Sue) of Rochester, NY. In addition to her first husband and parents, Aggie was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Bauer; her sister, Mary Logue; and by three brothers: Ralph and Joseph Samick, and by a brother in infancy.

Aggie was a devout Catholic and was a member of the St. Mary’s Church. She was always there to help anyone in need; volunteering her time with the Christian Food Bank, Bingo, the Elk County Catholic High School cafeteria, and patient transport at Penn Highlands Elk. She loved to volunteer, but her greatest love was her family.
