Katherine Z. Brem

Katherine Z. Brem, 92, of 1654 Hathorn Drive, State College, PA, and formerly of Kersey, passed away Friday morning, June 15, 2012 at her residence.

She was born October 15, 1919 in Force, daughter of the late Harvey and Catherine Bigley Hayes.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a retired employee of the Kersey Post Office.

On September 13, 1941 in the Holy Cross Church in Rasselas, she married Ambrose A. “Bud” Brem who preceded her in death on July 3, 1990.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary (Gary) Grunthaner of State College, Catherine (Mick) Meraglia of Cherryville, NC, Lois (Richard) Huff of Kersey and Sue (Richard) Thorne of State College; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Brem, who died in infancy; a sister, Lois Pearson; and three brothers, Gerald, John and Leroy Hayes.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Brem was a member of the St. Boniface Church, the Rosary Altar Society, the Fox Twp. Senior Center and the American Legion Auxiliary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Monday, June 25, 2012 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Jim Faluszczak, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday evening, June 24, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA  15846, the St. Boniface School, 359 Main Street, Kersey, PA  15846 or the Guardian Angel Center, PO Box 24, Kersey, PA  15846.

Your family was so welcoming to us when we first moved to Kersey years ago.
After getting to know Katherine later it was easy to see why her children were so faithful and caring toward everyone.

The time I spent with Kate and her family was brief, but I felt the deep love and devotion from each and every family member. Her love and memories will live on in each and every family member. She is at peace now.
