Alice L. Ehrensberger, 84, of 45 Plum Street, St. Joseph’s Terrace, Weedville, and formerly of Bucktail Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home after an illness of the past several months.
She was born December 31, 1927 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Allie and Agnes Dollinger Eckert. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools. She had worked at the former A & P Store in St. Marys, at Powdered Metal Products and the St. Marys School.
On April 21, 1947 in St. Marys, she married Wayne L. Ehrensberger who preceded her in death on October 8, 1993.
She is survived by two daughters, Ann Feldbauer of Ridgway and Helen Bonanno (Steve) of Weedville; a son, Donald Ehrensberger of Ridgway; 10 grandchildren, Tom Ehrensberger, Mike Feldbauer, Kelly Keener, William Feldbauer, Wendy Bonanno, David Bonanno, Michele Ehrensberger, Mark Ehrensberger, Marlena Ehrensberger, Felicia Wineka; 15 great grandchildren; and by her male companion, cat Woody, who was with her for 15 years.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Ehrensberger; a son-in-law, Raymond Feldbauer in 2011; a daughter-in-law, Peggy Baughman Ehrensberger; three grandchildren, Robbie, Kristen and Kenny Wayne Ehrensberger; a step grandson, Randy Feldbauer; two great grandsons, twins, Andrew and Alexander Keener; a sister, Ruth Feldbauer; and two brothers, James and William Eckert. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Ehrensberger was a member of the St. Joseph’s Church in Force and a former member of the Queen of the World Church in St. Marys. She enjoyed crocheting Afghans and had given away 500 in her lifetime. She enjoyed taking pictures, the outdoors and she especially enjoyed being with her family.
There will be no visitation.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Noon with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

It has been a while since I was out in St. Marys, but I have fond memories of Aunt Alice, the rest of the Ehrensbergers, and Bucktail Trail.
