Emma C. Copella

Emma C. Copella, 87, of 146 Laurel Lane, Kersey, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at her residence.

She was born September 21, 1931, in Toby, daughter of the late Innocente “Ernest” and Louise Cesa Comiotti. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1949.  Emma was a former employee of the Pure Carbon Company, St. Boniface School, and Sears Roebuck.  She was a member of the St. Boniface Church and the Rosary Altar Society.

On July 27, 1957, in the Guardian Angels Church in Coal Hollow, Emma married Glenn A. Copella, who preceded her in death on June 5, 1988.

She is survived by two daughters, Amy Folino and her husband Fred of Concord, OH and Ann Wendel of Kersey; two sons, Timothy G. Copella and his wife Susan of Enola, PA and Douglas G. Copella and his wife Crystal of Lamont, PA; seven grandchildren, Devin Lewis, Zachary Folino, Nicholas Folino, Emily Shannon, Abby Copella, Courtney Ritter, and Mitchell Wendel; and one great grandson, Nash Wendel Ritter. Also surviving are four sisters, Louise Huff and her husband Gerald of Kersey, Vera Himes of Christ the King Manor in DuBois, Irma Kronenwetter of St. Marys, and Joann Hyatt and her husband Robert of Kersey.

In addition to her husband and parents, Emma was preceded in death by three sisters, Marie Mattivi, Rose Dinsmore, and Alice Brem.

Emma loved preparing a big meal for her family to gather around. Then she would sit back and smile at the chatter surrounding the dining room table.  Family traditions meant the world to her like making homemade ravioli for Thanksgiving and an abundance of cookies at Christmas.  Above all, her family was the most important part of her life.  It gives us comfort knowing Glenn will be waiting for her with open arms.  She will truly be missed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Friday, November 9, 2018, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Jeff Noble officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday morning, from 8:30 until 9:30 AM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the St. Boniface Church, 355 Main Street, Kersey, PA 15846.
