Joseph S. Loverso, 83, of 1058 East Eschbach Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Pinecrest Manor.
He was born April 25, 1935, in Emporium, son of the late William and Mary Casino Loverso. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School. Joe was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company.
He is survived by his former wife, Roberta “Bobbi” Loverso of St. Marys; two granddaughters, Olivia Oknefski and Sasha Loverso; three great grandchildren; and by his good friend, Phyllis Gray of St. Marys.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a son, David Loverso; and by two sisters, Annie and Esther.
Joe was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the American Legion and the CMF, and he enjoyed watching sports. He was a very generous person and would help anyone. In his earlier years, Joe pitched a no-hitter in Little League and shot a .45 with Elvis Presley while serving in the Army.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Jeff Noble, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Saturday morning, from 8:30 until 9:30 AM.
