Ward R. Wonderling, 74, of 389 Toby Road, Kersey, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.
He was born October 22, 1943, in Dagus Mines, son of the late Ray and Angeline Snyder Wonderling. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, Class of 1961. Ward was a former employee of GKN in Kersey, Quality Components, and J & S Grinding.
On September 2, 1967, in the Maria Lutheran Church, Ward married Judy A. Saline, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Sharon Wonderling at home; a sister, Sherry Moyer and her husband Gary of Kersey; his close friend, Linda Himes of Kersey; and by his dog, Munchkin, and his cat, Lucky.
In addition to his parents, Ward was preceded in death by five sisters, Ruby Gray, Val Jean Gray, Beverly Gray, Lindola Holjencin, and Joyceyn Hau; and by two brothers, Roger Wonderling and Allen Wonderling.
Ward was a member of the Maria Lutheran Church and was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Fox Township Senior Center, the George E. Wagner Masonic Lodge #639, and the Coudersport Consistory. He was also an auxiliary member of the Fox Township Volunteer Fire Department and he enjoyed gardening and traveling on cruises.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Maria Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Erik Hart, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will follow in the Maria Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, March 26, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
