John L. “Lamie” Wehler

John L. “Lamie” Wehler, 82, of 106 Sara Road, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2017, at his home.

He was born July 5, 1935, in St. Marys. He was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Mary Jane Eckert Wehler, and his biological parents, Henry and Anna Eckert Ruehl.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys Schools.  He was the retired owner of Lamie Wehler Construction.

On June 12, 1954, Lamie married Iona Slusser, who preceded him in death on September 29, 1994. On May 10, 2003, he married Beverly McQuown, who survives.

Lamie is also survived by two daughters, Dr. Cheryl Wehler of Wichita, KS and Valerie Wehler of Stoughton, MA; two sons, Blaine Wehler and his wife Karen of Holliston, MA and David Wehler and his wife Kathy of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Nikki Wehler, Melissa Wehler Vickless (Matt), and Adam Wehler; and one great grandson, Cillian Vickless. Also surviving are two sisters, Carol Keller and her husband Paul of St. Marys and Holly Krug and her husband Dave of Punxsutawney; two brothers, Allen Wehler and his wife Sandy and Gale Wehler and his wife Cathy, both of St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Dolly Wehler and Carmen Wehler, both of St. Marys; and by many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by Beverly’s daughters, Wanda Simbeck and her husband Tom of Benezette and Vonna Miller and her husband John of Wilcox; grandchildren; and great grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife and parents, Lamie was preceded in death by four sisters, Arlene Renwick, Anna Smith, Florence “Blondie” Meyer, and Henrietta Buerk; four brothers, LeRoy Wehler, Richard Wehler, William Ruehl, and Norbert Ruehl; and by Beverly’s daughter, Cindy McQuown.

Lamie was a member of the Queen of the World Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing cards, wildlife photography, and spending time at his camp.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Jeff Noble, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday, October 22, 2017, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.
