Thomas G. “Turk” Hacherl, Jr.

Thomas G. “Turk” Hacherl, Jr., 80, of 300 West Mill Street, St. Marys, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017, at Pinecrest Manor, after a brief illness.

He was born January 4, 1937, in St. Marys, son of the late Thomas and Magdalene Mertel Hacherl. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1956.  He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring after 30 years of employment.

On February 20, 1960, in the Holy Rosary Church in Johnsonburg, Turk married Joan F. Aiello, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Angela Edgington and her husband Jeffrey of Aurora, CO; two sons, Aaron Hacherl and his wife Cynthia of Indianapolis, IN and Frank Hacherl of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Alisha, Luke, and Adam Hacherl; and by two sisters, Lois Bauer and her husband Jack of St. Marys and Michele Hacherl and her lifelong companion, Bill Zucker, of Tucson, AZ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Emmert.

Turk was a member of the St. Mary’s Church and was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors and he loved going to camp and playing cards.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Friday, October 20, 2017, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, October 19, 2017, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Turk’s passing. I never heard anything negative even if it was going the best. I was always greeted with a smile. You have my deepest sympathy.

Joanie, I am so sorry to hear of Turk’s death. I remember when we were kids, Mom taking us to visit your Mom and Dad, and you guys were always running in and out doing teenagery things. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
