Mary Louise Krieg

Mary Louise Krieg, 84, of Elco Glen, St. Marys, and formerly of 138 Queens Road, passed away Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.

She was born December 17, 1926 in Ford City, PA, daughter of the late Edward L. and Anna McGinley Shields.  She was raised in St. Marys and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.  She was a retired employee of AAA and in her early years she worked for the War Department in Washington DC.

On March 3, 1945 in the Sacred Heart Church, she married George R. Krieg who preceded her in death on July 11, 2001.

She is survived by four daughters, Elaine Smith and her husband Jack of Davidson, NC, Kathleen Trumbull of Bellefonte, Susan Parana and her husband William of Hendersonville, NC, Lois Krieg and her husband Anthony VanDivner of Kersey; one son, Daniel R. Krieg of Hanover, PA; 19 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and three brothers, Bernard Shields of St. Marys, Thomas J. Shields and his wife Kay of St. Marys, and Richard Shields and his wife Phyllis of Kane.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John E. “Jack” Krieg who passed away June 15, 2011; four sisters, Margaret “Maggie” Schreiber, Dorothy Jones, Mercedes Krieg, and Irene O’Brien; and two brothers, James Shields and Archie Shields.

Mrs. Krieg was a member of the Queen of the World Church, where she was a former choir member for many years, and she enjoyed bowling.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
