Mary Lou Iorfida

mary-lou-iorfida2Mary Lou Iorfida, 87, of 185 Center Street, Elk Towers, and formerly of East Eschbach Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016, at UPMC Altoona, after a brief illness.

She was born October 18, 1929, in Dagus Mines, daughter of the late Raymond and Julia Sheeley Dinsmore. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1948.  She was an employee of the former G.C. Murphy Co.

On June 19, 1948, in the St. Boniface Church, she married Ralph Iorfida, who preceded her in death on January 3, 1991.

Mary Lou is survived by a daughter, Natalie Cassels and her husband Daniel of St. Marys; a son, Denny J. Iorfida and his wife Marilyn of Brookville; four grandchildren, Gino Iorfida, Joleen Genevero, Amanda Wagner, and Danielle Cassels; five great grandchildren; a son-in-law, James Wilhour of St. Marys; two sisters, Joan Armanini of Ridgway and Judy Marchiori of Brockport; and by a brother-in-law, Don Krise of Kersey.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Wilhour; two sisters, Elinor Krise and Catherine Johnston; and by two brothers, Raymond “Buck” Dinsmore and Charles Dinsmore.

Mary Lou was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, where she was also a member of the Social Committee. She was a member of the St. Anne’s Society and she loved playing cards.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857, or to the Sacred Heart Church, 337 Center Street, St. Marys, PA  15857.

Your family is part of my family. Your Mom and mine were 2 peas in a pod. They enjoyed each other so much. I have many fond memories of being with Mary Lou & Ralph, Cathy and Nat. Denny you moved away but we saw you from time to time too. I just want to tell you I am sorry for your sadness. God bless your Mom.

Will miss you Mary Lou, enjoyed our time together. You were a strong woman walking to the funeral home to say good bye to you best friend. Now you can have dippy eggs and toast together in heaven.
