Deborah A. Young

Deborah YoungDeborah A. Young, 63, a resident of the Cambria Care Center, Ebensburg, and formerly of 1169 Brusselles Street, St. Marys, passed away at the Cambria Care Center on Saturday, July 9, 2016.

She was born November 27, 1952, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Elden and Elizabeth Renwick Lewis.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Ridgway High School, Class of 1971.  She was a former employee of Osram Sylvania.

On December 14, 1974, in the St. Benedict’s Church in Daguscahonda, she married Robert J. Young who preceded her in death on October 21, 2007.

She is survived by a daughter, Lacy Wise and her husband Scott of St. Marys; two sons, Stanley Young and his wife Sharon of Daguscahonda and Robert Young of St. Marys; a granddaughter, Kendall Young; two grandsons, Casey Young and Andrew Barr; three sisters, Patti Lewis of Ridgway, Judie Reed and her husband Marc of South Hill, VA, and Amy Glass and her husband Jeff of St. Marys; her best friend, Fay Lunger of St. Marys; and by Peg Howard of Ridgway, who was like a sister to her, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by twin sisters, Mary and Margaret, who passed away at birth.

Debbie was a member of the Queen of the World Church and the Elk/Cameron Counties Cursillo Movement.  She was an employee of the former Little Skipper in St. Marys and she loved sharing her fond memories of working there with her family and friends.

She was a very active resident at Cambria Care Center and enjoyed playing bingo.  Despite her health issues, she never lost her will to live, and more than anything she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to brag or gloat about them.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Cambria Care Center, 429 Manor Drive, Ebensburg, PA  15931, or to a favorite charity.

With deepest sympathy, I had the pleasure of meeting and teaching CCD classes, as they were called then, with Debbie. She was a wonderful lady, and I am richer for having met her.
