Mary G. Wendel

Mary WendelMary G. Wendel, 59, of 507 Penn Street, Johnsonburg, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, at her residence, after a lengthy illness.

She was born July 26, 1956, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Francis and Gladys Mertz Wurm. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys High School, Class of 1974.  She was a former employee of Powdered Metal Products, Elk Haven Nursing Home, and Elite Metal Products.

On November 4, 1977, in St. Marys, she married James Wendel, who preceded her in death on February 18, 1992.

She is survived by a daughter, Bobbi Jo Wendel of Canonsburg, PA; a son, Jude Wendel and his wife Sahara of Johnsonburg; a granddaughter, Camilla Wendel; a sister, Margaret Pearson and her husband David of St. Marys; three brothers, William Wurm of St. Marys, Robert Wurm and his wife Judy of Wilcox, and Michael Wurm and his wife Michelle of Kersey; and four maternal aunts, Margaret Mertz, Anna Mae Mertz, Deloris Mertz, and Dorothy Mertz. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Richard Wendel and his wife Cathy of Pittsburgh; a sister-in-law, Ruth Wendel of Kersey; and by nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Mary was a member of the Holy Rosary Church. She enjoyed traveling, crafting, spending time with her granddaughter, Camilla, and especially spoiling her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Holy Rosary Church on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. David Wilson, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Hahne Regional Cancer Center, 100 Hospital Avenue, DuBois, PA 15801.

Mary has been an inspiration and ray of sunshine to many of us while she was dealing with her cancer. We are so very sorry for your loss of your mother/ sister. She will be forever remembered with the one name she loved- GRANDMA.
