Joseph A. Minnick, Sr.

Joseph A. Minnick, Sr., 79, of 318 Main Street, Kersey, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, February 11, 2016, at Penn Highlands Elk.

He was born September 3, 1936, in St. Marys, son of the late Milo and Mildred Friedl Minnick. He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended Kersey Schools.  He was a retired employee of the Stackpole Corporation.

In 1961, he married Mary Susan Byrd, who preceded him in death in April of 1999.

He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Cook and husband Joe of Johnsonburg; two sons, Joseph A. Minnick, Jr. of Kersey and Randy Minnick and his companion Jackie of Florida; three grandchildren; and a sister, Patty Minnick of Kersey.

Mr. Minnick was a member of the St. Boniface Church and the Dagus Mines American Legion. He served in the Army Reserves for eight years and he loved his family and his grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Friday, February 19, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the American Heart Association, 823 Filmore Avenue, Erie, PA 16505.
