Carmella D. “Mallie” Hoffman

Carmella D. “Mallie” Hoffman, 92, of 185 Center Street, Elk Towers, and formerly of 1117 East Eschbach Road, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a brief illness.

She was born March 12, 1923, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Rocco and Elvira DeSantis Petrilli. She was a lifelong resident of the area and attended St. Marys schools.

On May 17, 1941, in the Sacred Heart Church, she married Lawrence J. Hoffman, Sr., who preceded her in death on September 14, 1997.

Mallie is survived by two daughters, JoAnn Geist and her husband Randy of St. Marys and Helen Martinez of Ridgway; a son, James J. Hoffman and his wife Robin of St. Marys; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Herzing and her husband Thomas of St. Marys; and two brothers, John Petrilli and his wife Janet and Joseph Petrilli and his wife Jean, both of St. Marys.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Larry Hoffman and John Hoffman; three sisters, Lena Galati, Angie Calla, and Connie Petrilli, who passed away in infancy; and by a brother, Herman Petrilli.

Mallie was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, the Catholic Daughters of America, and the Piedmont Lodge in Johnsonburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Sacred Heart Church on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Eric Vogt, OSB, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.

This is a very hard time but Mallie, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma sure touched a lot of lives here on earth and is now looking down on you from Heaven. I hope you will find peace and comfort in her memories. Celebrate her life. She was a very, very special lady to us all.
