Gustavo G. “Gino” Scacchitti

Gustavo G. “Gino” Scacchitti, 93, 1072 East Eschbach Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the Penn Highlands Elk.

He was born January 22, 1921 in Carapelle Calvisio, L’Aquila, Italy, son of the late Domenico and Santa DeiPietrantonio Scacchitti.  He attended school in Italy and moved to St. Marys in 1939.  He was a retired employee of Stackpole Carbon Company, retiring in 1986 after 44 years of service.

On July 9, 1955 in Italy, he married Menina C. “Minnie” DeLuca, who survives.  He is also survived by a daughter, Sandy Scacchitti of Harrisburg; a sister-in-law, Angie Scacchitti and her family; and also family in Canada, Italy, and Australia.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Bruno Scacchitti and Eraldo “Hoss” Scacchitti; and two brothers, Vince Scacchitti and Antonio Scacchitti.

Mr. Scacchitti was a member of the Queen of the World Church.  He was a veteran of the US Army having served in WWII, and was a member of the Sons of Italy and the CMF.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, August 25, 2014, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Richard Allen, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday morning from 10:00 until 11:30 AM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Queen of the World Church, 134 Queens Road, St. Marys, PA  15857, or to the Community Nurses, Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA  15857.

Cara Cugina Menina,
Siamo addolorati di sentire le notizie della morte del caro Gino. E sempre stato una grande persona; lui sara sempre ricordato nei nostri pensieri e nel nostro cuore. Ti mandiamo le nostre condoglianze perche purtroppo non possiamo venire a attendere il funerale. Vera e nel opesdale, io purtroppo non la posso lasciare.
