Magdalene B. Hacherl

Magdalene B. Hacherl, 100, of 523 Vine Street, St. Marys, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home after a brief illness.

She was born December 25, 1912 in St. Marys, daughter of the late George B. and Barbara Krellner Herzing.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1931.

In September of 1933, she married Herbert E. Hacherl in the St. Mary’s Church.  He preceded her in death on May 8, 2001.

She is survived by two daughters, Grace Schlimm of St. Marys and Marlene Nussbaum of St. Marys; two sons, Richard Hacherl and his wife Peggy of Lansdale, PA and David Hacherl of Kenai, Alaska; 19 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Ermont Herzing of St. Marys and Mary Gerg of St. Marys.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Bish in 1999; five sisters, Helen Herzing, Leona Valentine, her twin sister Marie Schaefer, Monica Herzing, and Frances Buchheit; and a brother, Leroy “Buzz” Herzing.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Hacherl was a member of the Queen of the World Church.  She loved to do jigsaw puzzles and play cards.  She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Friday, June 21, 2013, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2013, from 6:00 till 8:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to a favorite charity.
