Hugh J. Lanzel

Hugh J. Lanzel, 86, of 551 School Street, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the Elk Regional Health Center after a brief illness.

He was born March 9, 1926 in St. Marys, son of the late Ralph and Mary Schatz Lanzel.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.  He retired in 1986 from the Stackpole Carbon Company.

On October 27, 1950 in Maryland, he married Rose Garnic, who survives.  Also surviving are three sons, John (Candy) Lanzel of St. Marys, Mark (Cindy) Lanzel of St. Marys and Paul (Barb) Lanzel of St. Marys; seven grandchildren, Hannah, Hayley, Bradley, Brandon, Brett, Bryce, Jason and Ian Lanzel; and two great grandsons, Jacob and Landon Lanzel; a sister, Dorothy Lanzel of St. Marys; and a brother, Ralph Lanzel of St. Marys.

Mr. Lanzel was a member of the St. Mary’s Church.

Funeral and committal services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses Inc., Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA  15857.
