Monica G. Defranco, 89, of 207 Grandview Road, St. Marys, passed away Friday evening, November 2, 2012, at the Pinecrest Manor.
She was born December 1, 1922 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Ambrose and Mae Kerner Bauer. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1940. She was a former employee of Sylvania.
On June 28, 1948 in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Fred T. Defranco, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Chris Ortiz of Latham, NY and Lorraine (Gail) Garbic of St. Marys; a son, Anthony M. Defranco of St. Marys; ten grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Defranco; two sisters, Grace Bauer and Winnie Schreiber; and six brothers, Paul Bauer, Carl Bauer, Thomas Bauer, Gerald Bauer, Walter Bauer and Eugene Bauer. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Mrs. Defranco was a member of the Queen of the World Church. She was the matriarch of the Defranco family. She was the head of the table for pasta dinner and the maker of tradition. She was a lot of things to a lot of people, but she was the heart of her family. She loved to play board games and work on puzzles. She loved watching her children and grandchildren play. She loved her family and her husband fiercely and the world will never be the same without her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Michael Ferrick, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
