Doris Mae Fritz

Doris Mae Fritz, 87, 112 Poplar Road, St. Marys, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville following a lengthy illness.

She was born May 8, 1924 in St. Marys, daughter of the late Aloysius “Allie” and Clara Fox Erich.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Class of 1942.  She was a retired employee of the Stackpole Carbon Corp.

On October 16, 1943, in the St. Mary’s Church, she married Robert F. Fritz, who preceded her in death on December 27, 2004.

She is survived by a daughter, Sally Wilson (Steve) of St. Marys; two sons, Gary R. Fritz (Joanne) of St. Marys, Roger C. Fritz (Barbara) of St. Marys; seven grandchildren, Dana Fritz, Jason Fritz, Corey Fritz, Amy Howley, Julia Veasman, Nikki Werner, Eric Wilson; four great grandchildren, Emma Fritz, Caleb Werner, Robert Fritz, Austin Werner; a sister, Betty Taylor of St. Marys, and a brother, Thomas Erich (Eileen) of St. Marys.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Alexa Fritz, who died in infancy; four sisters, Geraldine Bucheit, Georgia Long, Marie Squires, Virginia Lecker; and two brothers, William Erich and Regis Erich.

Mrs. Fritz was a member of the Queen of the World Church, was a volunteer at the Elk Regional Health Center and the Christian Food Bank.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 9:00 AM with the Rev. Daniel Wolfel OSB officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

I will always cherish the many talks I shared with your mother when we were at Elk Regional- she was always smiling. Cherish all the memories of your mom—hold them in your heart–she was a great lady… You will be in my prayers and thoughts…
