He was born July 3, 1924, in Johnsonburg, son of the late Wade Harrison Geer and Julia Shannon Geer.  Norbert married Cecilia Mary Auman on September 8, 1947, in the St. Mary’s Church.  She preceded him in death on February 16, 2002.

Norbert was a World War II veteran, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater and the European Theater.  He was a proud member of the Mayflower Society as a descendent of Stephen Hopkins and very proud of his Irish/English heritage.  Norbert was also a member of the St. Mary’s Church.

Besides his wife and parents, Norbert was preceded in death by two sisters, Eileen Crowe and Genevieve Sutka; and by two brothers, John R. (Jack) Geer and Loren James Geer.  He was the last member of his immediate family.

Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at 1:30 PM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, Pastor, officiating.  Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

He was and always will be the best “Poppa” in the world.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Silver Creek Terrace, 791 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA  15857.

My sincere condolences to the family. I have many fond memories of Norb and his wife. They were my first and only babysitters. They treated me as one of their own. My mother quit her job because I never wanted to leave their house! They will always have a special place in my heart.

I have the fondest memories of Norb and Ceal visiting my parents in Erie. He was a gentle, kind, and witty person whom everyone loved. I am so sorry for your loss. I do truly believe your loss is heaven’s gain. Right now, there is a big celebratory reunion going on there. I’m sure everyone was waiting for this sweet soul. What a wild time they will have! God bless your family.
