Francis V. Bleggi

Francis V. Bleggi, 95, of 625 Virginia Road, St. Marys, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018, at Pinecrest Manor, after an illness of the past several months.

Fran was born October 2, 1923, in Reynoldsville, son of the late Emmanuel C. and Lena Benigni Bleggi. He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central Catholic High School.  Fran was a retired employee of Airco Carbon and the Stackpole Corporation.

On February 26, 1949, in the St. Mary’s Church, Fran married Elizabeth Irene “Bette” Wildnauer, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Pamela Jean Serianni and her husband, Dr. Richard Serianni, of Beaufort, SC and Julie A. Fannin and her husband, Martin, of Ridgway; and by two grandsons, Ryan and Noah Serianni.

In addition to his parents, Fran was preceded in death by two brothers, Emmanuel P. Bleggi and Leo L. Bleggi. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Fran was a member of the St. Mary’s Church and was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served in World War II. He was also a member of the American Legion and was an avid golfer.  Fran especially enjoyed being around his family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, December 21, 2018, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the St. Marys Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday morning, from 10:30 until the time of the service.

So deeply sorry about the loss of Fran. He was an amazing man and I will forever be grateful for the time I was able to spend taking care of and getting to know him in his time at Pinecrest Manor. You are all in my prayers and my thoughts are with you and your family at this difficult time.
