Rose G. Lanzel

Rose G. Lanzel, 86, of 551 School Street, St. Marys, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a brief illness.

She was born May 25, 1931, in Coal Center, PA, daughter of the late Andrew and Alice Stasko Garnic. She had been a resident of St. Marys since 1950 and was a graduate of California, PA Schools.  Rose was a retired employee of GTE Sylvania.

On October 27, 1950, in the St. Peter and Paul Church in Cumberland, MD, she married Hugh J. Lanzel, who preceded her in death on January 6, 2013.

Rose is survived by three sons, John Lanzel and his wife Candy, Mark Lanzel and his wife Cindy, and Paul Lanzel and his wife Barb, all of St. Marys; five grandsons, Bradley, Brandon, Brett, Bryce, and Jason; two granddaughters, Hannah and Hayley; nine great grandchildren, Jacob, Landon, Chloe, R. J., Ian, Cadence, Conner, Violet, and Bryson; and by a brother, Andrew Garnic and his wife Patty of California, PA.

In addition to her husband and parents, Rose was preceded in death by her step father, Andrew Digon; and by a sister, Martha Dinsmore.

Rose was a member of the St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There will be no visitation.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Committal Service to be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery Chapel on Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at 12:00 PM, with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Worked with Rose many years at Sylvania. She was a very nice and kind person. I am very sorry to read about her passing. Thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. Jeannie Klancer
