Samuel E. Luchini

Samuel LuchiniSamuel E. Luchini, 84, of 122 Dagus Mines Road, Kersey, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016, at his residence, after a lengthy illness.

He was born July 1, 1932, in Kersey, son of the late Joseph and Catherine Antoniolli Luchini. He was a lifelong resident of the area, was a graduate of Kersey High School, Class of 1951, and a graduate of DuBois Business College.  Sam was a former employee of Speer Carbon and was a retired employee of Prudential Insurance with over 20 years of service.  He joined Prudential in 1972 and was a million dollar producer for many years.

On August 22, 1959, in the St. Boniface Church, he married Elizabeth “Betty” Canal, who survives. Sam is also survived by a daughter, Lisa Luchini of Panama City, FL; two sons, David Luchini and his wife Cathy of Strongsville, OH and Donald Luchini and his wife Judith of Pittsburgh; five grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Luchini, Samantha Neeley, Antoinette Luchini, Nicholas Luchini, and Angelina Luchini; a great grandson, Dylan Luchini; and by a brother, Joseph Luchini, Jr. of Kersey.

In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Miller; and by four brothers, Louis, John, Vincent, and Francis Luchini.

Sam was a member of the St. Boniface Church and was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a former member of the St. Marys School Board, a lifelong member of the Kersey Eagles, and was a member of the Fox Twp. Legion for 61 years.  He was involved in the Fox Twp. Little League and American Legion Baseball for many years.  Sam enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid sportsman.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at 10:00 AM, with the Rev. Ross Miceli, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Twp. Servicemen’s Burial Detail.  Burial will follow in the St. Boniface Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, from 5:00 until 8:00 PM.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc., Hospice, 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA 15857, or to the Women’s Health Care, in memory of Paulette Schreiber, Penn Highlands Elk, 763 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA  15857.
