Doris A. Stockman

Doris StockmanDoris A. Stockman, 97, a resident of Silver Creek Terrace and formerly of 164 Wendel Road, St. Marys, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015, at the Elk Haven Nursing Home.

She was born September 5, 1917 in West Hickory, PA, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Linder Huggler.  She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Ridgway High School.  She was a retired cafeteria manager of the Queen of the World School.

On October 19, 1947, in the St. Mary’s Church Rectory, she married John E. Stockman, who preceded her in death in 1962.

Mrs. Stockman is survived by three daughters, Catherine E. Bauer and her husband James R. of St. Marys, Marie D. Fritz and her husband Fred of St. Marys, and Barbara J. Donahue and her husband Wayne of St. Marys; a son, Lawrence J. “Hector” Stockman of St. Marys; eight grandchildren, Patrick Willar, Adam Bauer, Grace Manno, Anna Marie Devine, John Fritz, Luke Fritz, Angela Buemi, and Michael Donahue; and five great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Fry; five sisters, Ruth Sidelinger, Helen Buhler, Elizabeth Hostettler, Lucille Buehler, and Mildred Huggler; and two brothers, Lyle Huggler and John U. Huggler.  She was the last member of her immediate family.

Mrs. Stockman was a member of the Queen of the World Church and the Rosary Altar Society.  She was also a member of the Elk County Cursillo Movement and the Benedictine Oblates.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Queen of the World Church on Monday, May 18, 2015, at 12:00 PM.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation is at the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Nurses, Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Road, Suite 200, St. Marys, PA  15857; the Elk Haven Nursing Home, Activities Fund, 785 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA  15857; or to the Silver Creek Terrace, 791 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA  15857.
